Research Centers

Charhar has six centers:

Center for Peace of Korean Peninsula

The center focuses on North Korea's nuclear program, China-South Korea relations, China-North Korea relations and inter-Korean relations. In 2017, the center hosted 50-plus events in both China and South Korea. Through these events, Dr. Han Fangming and other Charhar leaders befriended Korean politicians, religious leaders, and business executives.

Center for Himalayan Studies

Famous for its biodiversity and culture, the Himalayan region, however, is one of the least developed regions in the world. Tibet is one of China’s poorest regions. How can China's foreign policy make Tibet richer? The center gathers notable experts from multiple backgrounds to address this important issue.

The center hosts events that help Chinese understand South Asian countries, their international status, and their legitimate interests and requests. We also work to enable South Asians understand China and its legitimate interests and requests.

Center for Energy Diplomacy

The Center for Energy Diplomacy’s mission is to provide intellectual support for China promoting and implementing its energy diplomacy strategy appropriate to China's situation and international trend. The Director is Wu Sike and the Chief Consultant is Major General Wang Haiyun.

Center for BRI

Proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the BRI is a win-win cooperation plan. The center's research attempts to find solutions to obstacles. The Director is Prof. Wang Yiwei.

Center for City Diplomacy

The Center for Diplomacy is aimed to provide support for researches and practice on China’s city diplomacy in the 21st century. The director is Prof. Xiong Wei.

Center for Latin American Studies

A nascent organization, Center for Latin American Studies has fellows who are former ambassadors. Like the Center for Himalayan Studies, the center aims to enhance understanding between China and Latin American countries.

And Charhar has two committees:

Foreign Affairs Committee

This is a committee composed of fellows who are former ambassadors or current diplomats. The Secretary General is Cai Jing.

Culture and Peace Committee

This is a committee composed of celebrities, retired government officials, and journalists. Academy Award-winner Jackie Chan and CPPCC spokesperson Wang Guoqing are Co-Chairs. The Secretary General is Zhou Hucheng.
