Huang Youyi is the Secretary General of the International Advisory Committee of the Charhar Institute. He is also Executive Vice President of Translators Association of China. A top English language expert and translator in China, he is a chief translator of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume I & II. He was elected First Vice-President of the International Federation of Translators，2008. From 1993 to 2013, he worked for China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration as its Deputy Director-general. Well-versed in international communication, he also served as President of one of the major news websites, www.china.org.cn, from 1999-2013. He was also a member of the 11th and 12th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.
Over the years, he has translated numerous works, including the Chinese classic Selections from Strange Tales from the Liaozhai Studio written by Pu Songling of the Qing Dynasty into English, and co-translated the American novel Bonfire of Vanity into Chinese.
He holds a BA in English from Beijing Foreign Studies University and a MA from University of Massachusetts.
