Han Fangming, Founding President of the Charhar Institute, is also Vice Chairman of Committee of Foreign Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Public Diplomacy Quarterly. Dr. Han Fangming has nearly 20 years of experience in business, government relations, public affairs, risk management and other related fields. Since the 1990s, he has been a trustee of large central State-owned enterprises, multinational companies, commercial banks and financial institutions. Dr. Han Fangming is also a renown scholar of public diplomacy, international relations and Southeast Asian studies. He is the author of textbook, an Opinion Columnist for major international newspapers and magazines, he boasts a wide influence among the international media. He holds a Ph.D. from Peking University and was a visiting scholar at Harvard University.
How does the world view Chinese? How does the Chinese image look like in foreign eyes? What are the obstacles in the identity formation of Chinese abroad? This book focuses on the construction of a new Chinese international image that is changing as a result of globalization and public diplomacy. This book is a collection of 21 scholars and researches and their opinions on the new Chinese image abroad, delivered in the 2011 Charhar Annual Conference. The collection examines the Chinese image in various countries, including Japan, the U.S, Singapore, and in the European Union. In addition, Chinese Image Abroad take one step forward into discussing the importance of citizen image in international politics.
