Liu Yang, Assistant Secretary-General of the Charhar Institute attended the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the 7th Council of the China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO), on behalf of the Charhar Institute in Beijing on June 14, 2019. Since becoming one of the governing bodies of the CANGO in 2015, the Charhar Institute has been paying attention to the development of non-governmental diplomacy and has cooperated with the CANGO many times, making important contributions to promoting the participation of enterprises and social organizations in global governance.

During the meeting, Xu Tao, President of the CANGO, delivered an opening speech, in which he reviewed the work of the CPPCC in 2018 and put forward the key points of the work plan in 2019.
Zhao Daxing, Secretary-General of the CANGO, reviewed the work in internal governance, public welfare development, social governance, non-governmental diplomacy and South-South cooperation, and put forward new requirements for promoting the work of the CANGO in 2019.
Then the CANGO members discussed and made votes on specific issues in the meeting.
The China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO) is a non-profit membership organization operating nationwide. The CANGO was founded on July 22th of 1992, and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 1993 (registration number 3340). The CANGO has had more than 113 member organizations in China. In 2006, the CANGO gained the qualification of pre-tax deduction for donations by the Ministry of Finance and State Administration of Taxation. In 2007, the CANGO gained NGO Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. And in 2010, the CANGO was honored the title of National Advanced Social Organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. In 2016, the CANGO was assessed as the National Social Organizations Public Welfare Association Assessment Grade of ‘4A’ from the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
