Han Fangming, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of the Charhar Institute, met with a delegation of Yonsei University from ROK led by Hong Junhe, Vice President and Professor of the Yonsei University in Beijing on August 3.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their willingness to strengthen communication and collaboration in the future and also discussed how to push forward the plan of establishing the "Yonsei & Charhar Center". Zhang Zhongyi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Charhar Institute and Director of the Institute’s Office in Seoul, attended the meeting.
The day before the meeting, the delegation also visited the Charhar Ranch, where the Headquarters of the Charhar Institute is located.
Earlier this year on May 10th, the Charhar Institute and the Yonsei University signed a memorandum of understanding，in which both sides agreed that they would fully tap their respective resources to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Korea and deepen research on issues that both sides are concerned about, including the study of the cultures of the two countries, the China-ROK relations, the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia areas. In all, both sides wished to contribute more to peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia through collaboration.
In addition, both sides have initiated a plan of establishing the Yonsei & Charhar Center, for the implementation of cooperative projects between the Charhar Institute and Yonsei University.
Yonsei University, founded in 1885, is an institution of higher learning with the longest history among all the universities in ROK. As an institution with the strongest leadership in the field of higher education in ROK, Yonsei University is well-known for its long history and its internationalization level. Besides, it is also best known as the one of the three top universities in ROK (S.K.Y.), together with Seoul National University and Korea University. According to the Thames Asia University Rank of 2018, Yonsei University was ranked the 20th among universities in Asia.
