He Zhigeng, Secretary General of the Charhar Institute, attended the 4th China-India Media Summit Forum which was held in Beijing on August 12, 2019.
The Forum was hosted by the China Public Diplomacy Association, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China and S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India, attended the closing ceremony of the forum.
Wang Yi congratulated the forum on its success. He pointed out that since 2013, the China-India Media Summit Forum, as the largest media exchange platform between the two countries, has paved the way for mutual understanding between the Chinese and Indian media, and has become an important link for China-Indian cultural cooperation.

Wang emphasized that the development of China-Indian relations is rooted in the people and in exchanges. The media is an important link to enhance the understanding and friendship between China aand India.
Jaishankar said in his speech that the media summit forum is an important part of media exchanges between India and China. The Indian Foreign Minister believed that cooperation in the field of media and the establishment of stronger media relations will certainly promote the development of bilateral relations between India and China.
Luo Linquan, former Chinese Ambassador to Greece, Ireland, former Consul General in San Francisco, and Deputy Chairman of China Public Diplomacy Association, made an opening speech. Luo pointed out that both China and India have ancient civilizations and have made important contributions to promoting the progress of human civilization. Working together, China and India will not only help each other develop, but also contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in Asia and the world.

Sun Yuxi, former Chinese Ambassador to India, pointed out that China and India share common responsibilities, which are also the responsibility of the media of the two countries. Sun suggested that the media of China and India should work to pave the way for friendly exchanges between 2.6 billion people in the two countries and strive to promote the fourth height of China-India friendly cooperation.

Liu Zhonghua, member of the International Department of the People's Daily, remarked in his speech that with 800 million netizens in China and 500 million netizens in India, strengthening media exchanges and cooperation between China and India is of great significance to promoting the friendly cooperation between the two countries and enhancing people-to-people communication.

He Zhigeng, Secretary-General of the Charhar Institute, pointed out in his speech that from the speeches of the guests, we can see that the two countries are eager to overcome some extreme obstacles that affect the exchange of views between the people of the two countries. He remarked we need to enhance mutual trust, treat each other's economic and social development objectively and fairly, and also boost participation of think tanks in the process.
He introduced the Charhar Institute, saying that as a leading think tank on international relations and diplomacy, the institute has had rich practice and experience in promoting the development of public diplomacy between China and India. The Charhar Institute will keep committed to promoting the establishment of good relationship between China and the world in the future.
