Yu Zhirong is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Charhar Institute in Beijing. He is a Researcher at China Association of Marine Affairs, Visiting Professor of Zhejiang Ocean University and Vice Secretary General of Pacific Society of China. He is also Deputy Director and Distinguished Research Fellow of Shanghai Japan Studies&Communication Center. He majored in Japanese language and literature in Peking University in 1981-1982, and majored in international maritime law at Kyoto University in 1997-1998. His studies are majorly focusing on sea management, sea environment and the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century.
