Cheng Tao is a Member of Foreign Affairs Committee at the Charhar Institute in Beijing. He once served as a staff member, Third Secretary, and Second Secretary of the Embassy of PRC in the Republic of Gabon. He also successively held the posts of Deputy Director, First Secretary, Director of the Department of African Affairs, Political Counselor of the Embassy of PRC in the Republic of Benin, Deputy-General of the General Office of MFA, the Ambassador of PRC in the Republic of Mali and Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of MFA. He used to be Secretary-General of China at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the Ambassador of the Embassy of PRC in the Kingdom of Morocco, Vice-Chairman of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Association of Former Diplomats of China. He serves the Board of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs at present. He is also a Senior Researcher and Director of Center for African Studies of China International Studies Foundation, Invited Research Fellow of Center for African Studies, Peking University, Adjunct Professor of China Foreign Affairs University and Visiting Professor of National Defense University. He is a member of Public Diplomacy Advisory Panel Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC.
