Wu Changsheng is a Member of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Charhar Institute in Beijing. From 1979 to 1983, he was a staff member and then Second Secretary of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs. From 1983 to 1986, he was the Second Secretary and then First Secretary of the Embassy of PRC in the Republic of Colombia. From 1986 to 1992, he was Deputy Director and then Director of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of MFA. From 1992 to 1995, he was Counsellor of the Embassy of PRC in the Republic of Colombia. From 1995 to 1998, he was Political Counsellor of the Embassy of PRC in the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of MFA. From 1998 to 2000, he was Ambassador of PRC to Bolivia. From 2001 to 2003, he was Ambassador of PRC to Bahamas. From 2003 to 2007, he was Ambassador of PRC to Colombia. He is a Senior Fellow at China International Studies Foundation, Director of Center for Latin American Studies. He received a BA in Spanish and Latin American literature from Universidad de La Havana.
