Chen Chao is an Adjunct Fellow at the Charhar Institute in Beijing. He is Director of the Centre for Media Big Data Studies in China Central Television and Visiting Professor in Beijing Foreign Studies University and in China University of Communication. He was war correspondent during the civil war of Côte d'Ivoire.
