A seminar on the China-US relations was held between a U.S. congressional staff delegation and experts from the Charhar Institute at the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) in Beijing on August 15, 2019.

He Zhigeng, Secretary-General of the Charhar Institute and Former Director of the Division of North American and Oceanian Affairs of Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, delivered an opening remark on behalf of Han Fangming, Chairman of the Charhar Institute, in which he welcomed the arrival of the delegation and thanked the CPIFA for its support of the event.
The two sides had an in-depth discussion on the China-US economic and trade relations, the Taiwan question, China-US high-tech fields and cultural exchanges at the seminar.
The seminar was co-hosted by the Charhar Institute and the US-China Transpacific Foundation (UCTPF), with support from the CPIFA.
It was under the invitation of the CPIFA that the U.S. Congressional staff delegation which was led by Daniel Ball, Deputy Policy Director of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, came to visit China.
The seminar was moderated by Wang Chong, Senior Fellow at the Charhar Institute.

The U.S. congressional staff delegation's members Nathan Heiman, Lyndsey Barnes, Jon Adame, Darin Guries, Christopher Buki, Sasha Bernhard, Chad Bolt, Daniel Ruboss, Mark Dennin, Paul Johnson and Andrew Nirenberg attended the seminar with the delegation leader Daniel Ball.
