On November 23rd, a delegation of young diplomats from Burkina Faso visited the Charhar Institute and both sides had a seminar at the Communication University of China (CUC) on "The History and Status Quo of Chinese Brands and Media", in which Zhao Xinli, Senior Fellow at the Charhar Institute and Deputy Dean of the Advertising College of CUC, gave a keynote speech.
Liu Yang, Assistant Secretary-General of the Charhar Institute, presided over the seminar. On behalf of Han Fangming, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and Chairman of the Charhar Institute, she first extended warm welcome to the delegation members.
She said that since the resumption of the diplomatic relations of the ambassadorial level between China and Burkina Faso in May 2018, with the care and promotion of the two countries’ heads of state, the bilateral relations have developed smoothly, and the mutual pragmatic cooperation has produced fruitful gains at the initial stage. She remarked that to maintain this hard-won friendly relationship, both countries need to forge ahead with more enthusiasm and action from the governments to the civil society, from the organizational level to individuals, so as to jointly push forward the development of bilateral relations and friendly exchanges between the two peoples.

During his keynote speech, Zhao Xinli first gave a brief introduction of the development history of the Advertising College of Communication University of China, and then he focused on the history and current development situation of China's media and brands.
Enriched by many vivid cases on Chinese brands’ development as well as the marketing, his lecture elucidated the rapid development of China's advertising and media industries as well as the profound influence of Chinese brands.

After the seminar, the delegation also visited the China Advertisement Museum and got more ideas about Chinese brands and their close relationship with the development of Chinese economy and people’s daily life since the founding of the new China, and especially since the reform and opening up in 1978.

Members of the delegation said that Chinese brands now have got great impact on the world's manufacturing and high-tech industries. And Chinese products have enjoyed a high reputation in the African market and been well-received by African people.
They expressed the hope on expanding cooperation between the two countries for promoting common development.
During the seminar
The event is part of a foreign aid training program held for officials of Burkina Faso, which was undertaken by the Beijing International Chinese Institute commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. It is aimed for helping the officials of Burkina Faso have a better understanding of China through a variety of cultural exchanges and academic seminars, and then pushing forward the two countries' multi-level exchanges and cooperation in different fields, especially in the diplomatic field in the future.
